I am hoping to get some advice. I have been having issues for the last year only during my period with bowel problems. After the first few days of my period I am getting severe pain in my rectum and I cannot pass anything, not even gas. I went to GP and she thought it was appendix and they did a ct and saw fibroids so one of them was removed 5 weeks ago. After the surgery my rectum pain and blockage was the worst ever. I thought I was going to die. My gp did a rectal exam and said they felt some… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing severe rectal pain and bowel blockages during menstruation, with many sharing similar struggles including painful bowel movements, constipation, and rectal bleeding tied to their cycles. Several members offered practical guidance, including seeking specialists experienced in endometriosis (one member recommended Dr. Sekou Kelsey in Belleville), considering diagnostic laparoscopy to identify implants in the pouch of Douglas or colon, and exploring pelvic floor therapy for related damage. A recurring theme was the frustration of delayed diagnosis and unnecessary procedures, met with encouragement to advocate for better care, switch doctors if needed, and pursue surgical options like excision or ablation to address the root cause.

Hello
I am new here but I wanted to check if those of you who have rectal bleeding usually have it after bowel movement? I've had few episodes of rectal bleeding in the last few months - one before my period and one after - but not sure if endometriosis is causing it. After the first episode I've had colonoscopy which was completely normal and also ultrasound to check ovaries - that was ok too. I've been on birth control pill for many years but now planning to stop it because we are planning a family and very scared that endometriosis might have progressed.

Krisseetina,
Thank you for your response. This stuff is rough to say the least.

I had the same thing, extreme pain when moving my bowels and inability to pass stool which led to severe and chronic constipation. It's been so bad I tore my pelvic floor and I am not in biofeedback therapy to learn how to use and strengthen the muscles to repair that damage and a crapton of laxatives to reduce discomfort.
I really hope they can help you out soon!

She is my new gyno since the last one seemed like she just wasn't interested. My new gyno seemed to much more on point within the first two minutes talking. She drew blood and is wanting to look closer to the sonogram I had on July 4th. Then she will make a determination for sure, but she feels as though I will have two options.. One is a laparoscopy to check for endo and then also do an ablation or two remove my uterus and tubes. Does anyone have any suggestions?
