Pain When Aroused?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Before sex, when I'm beginning to get aroused, I get pain in the left side of my stomach, my vagina and also my bum (sorry for tmi). I've had the problem for a while but the pain feels more intense then it used to. Its at the stage where I really am not interested in having sex, because there's pain before, during, and then pain after. Does anyone else get this too? And does anyone know why this happens?

Theory: Thinking about sex will illicit sexual reaction like uterine and vaginal muscle contractions. The uterine contractions can cause two major muscles called the sacral ligaments on each side to move. If you have pelvic floor dysfunction, or adhesion's pulling from endometriosis implants moving any part of your pelvic organs; when you think about sex and get sexually aroused, the muscle contractions may cause pain in any area effected by endometriosis.

So, lets say you are like me with endometriosis in the left side of pelvis. This greatly impacts my descending colon and sometimes if I have uterine cramps, I get cramps down my descending colon to the left side of my vagina and butt. It can even shoot down my leg. My left sacral ligament has been effected and made tighter from my uterus being connected to my left ovary, and descending colon. Very common sites of implantation of endometriosis. This causes musculature and sometimes nerve pain. Overall, the term is called Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.

I have a group of yoga poses called "sacral illiac rehabilitation exercises" along with Sun Salutation I do to help stretch my core and make it stronger. Yoga is also supposed to reduce adhesion's. Endometriosis can greatly reduce the muscle strength of the sacral ligaments because it binds everything up and half your muscle strength just goes to keeping everything in place. I found yoga and light walking are really good at helping strengthen, align, and relax your core muscles. I have seen two pelvic floor physical therapists and they have both taught me a great deal about endometriosis and core muscles.

I would highly recommend looking into excision surgery and pelvic floor physical therapy.

Oh my god I nearly cried reading this! I have had this for 4 years it's made me feel useless as a woman and none of the doctors I've seen know what it is. I've frantically searched online and only come up with varicose veins as a possible cause but the doc examined me and said he didn't think that was the case. It took a long time for him to understand it was not related to penatration but is worse after, it seems to happen as things are heating up and becomes so intense I sometimes can't move. I've been petrified that my boyfriend will get fed up and find someone else and I'm in constant fear of that too. Thank you so so much for posting this, it feels so good to know I'm not alone xx
