Has anyone gotten an iud and not regretted it? What side effects have you had?

I had 4 years of relief(not without symptoms completely) with my Mirena. Fitting wasn’t pleasant(I also haven’t had kids so it isn’t as easy to fit apparently), it took a few months to settle . I went to have it removed/refitted after 4.5years when I started getting bad symptoms again. Unfortunately it wasn’t straight forward and there were complications with removal so I wasn’t able to have it refitted but that was due to endo, after being told for years I just had IBS and period issues.
It is great to have found a specialist that took my pain seriously(a burst cyst a few weeks ago made m take it seriously) I do hope to get the Mirena refitted though. I am currently on the combined pill to calm my hormones but the side effects are insane!!! I can’t cope.

I just had to have my iud removed after 14 months of having it. It was supposedly the cause for my symptoms of endo. I just had a lap done yesterday and they didn’t find any endo, so he said it was my iud causing the problem and is what made us think I had endo. So he removed it. I was pretty much in pain every single day. Sharp, stabbing, contraction like pain. Along with extreme bloating and my latest symptom was bleeding for two months straight. Apparently all caused by the iud. So now that my iud has been removed we will see if my symptoms continue or not. I know there are several women who have had not any issues with their iud and no side effects. It really just depends on each person. I would definitely try an iud before I would menopause inducing medications though. You’ll just never really know how your body is going to react unless you try it.
