Phentermine For Weight Loss After Hormone Weight Gain?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've seen a few women mention it but I wanted to ask has anyone been prescribed phentermine as an appetite suppressant after gaining weight taking Lupron, Depo-Provera or other medications? It's so hard to lose weight with endometriosis as is and after I took Lupron I just can't seem to get it off. If you have been prescribed it- who was it that prescribed the medication? Primary care, GYN, nutritionist, GI?

I had gone to the doctor years ago complaining about chronic nausea, which I now realize may have been a very early symptom of my endometriosis, and he took one look at how overweight I was and prescribed me Phentermine. I started taking it and it was horrible! I would be dizzy and sick, that kind of dizzy-sick feeling like when you drink a bunch of coffee on an empty stomach, but way worse. I started cutting the pills in half, and taking them, but I would still eat so I wasn’t seeing any difference in my weight. Then when I started pairing the pills with a balanced diet was when I started to notice me weight decrease. Honestly, I like the pills because if I take them in the morning, I don’t feel hungry until around 3 or 4 pm, (I usually don’t start eating until around noon anyway though, never been a breakfast person) but I like them mainly for the energy. The fatigue can be so difficult to deal with and sometimes the energy in Phentermine just gives me a little boost.. but this is just my personal experience. I don’t know if the Phentermine affects my actual endometriosis as far as like pain and severity go.

I would also be interested in any stories people could share. I was on Lupron a couple years back, but my weight gain has been terrible for about 10 yrs. I put it down to hormones and all the 'stuff' I have on, including IVF treatments Sending hugs your way
