Many women are asked to do a bowel prep before surgery because there is a possibility that endometriosis may be in the bowel. Imaging don't necessarily show the presence of bowel lesions. I will be doing a bowel prep even though I will be providing pelvic MRI images to my surgeon.

A bowel prep is when you have to drink this junk sometimes in a gal. jug or there are other methods but its up to the dr. You drink it & it makes you go to the bathroom & that is suppose to clean you out. It takes me about 4 hrs to do it & it isn't very pleasant. I put it in the fridg bc it tastes better when its cold not that it taste good but its more tolerable. I always dread that but if there are bowel issues, that is what you usually do. You can not eat that day just liquids & nothing red, clear broths, jello, & popsicles Its not one of my favorite things to do but I will be doing it soon. They give you that for colonoscopy's too.

Ive never had to do bowl preps before any of my surgeries. But thats because my surgeon has never gone near my bowel. For the first few surgeries they try to avoid touching your bowel as they can cause more harm than good. :)

I never did a bowel prep. I don’t even know what that is. Just had my first surgery on Tuesday and they did find that my right ovary was attached to my colon though *sigh*... maybe has something to do with why I have been have digestive issues such as consistent diarrhea. Sorry for tmi.
