A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
St. Louis, MO

Im wondering if anyone has any tips/advice to help with painful sex. I have always had pain using tampons/getting paps/etc but thought sex would be different only to find i am having the same amount of pain just with some “foreplay” My partner is very caring and he does not get frustrated (thankfully) but i am ready to be sexually active with him without crying or yelping in pain. Any help is appreciated!

I spent about $100 or so on mine and they were definitely worth it for me as they helped (along with surgery and nerve pain medication) to help relax and stretch my muscles.

For me, the more lubricated it is the less painful it is. Certain positions i just avoid when i have pain and we dont do deep penetration during painful moments. I saw a physical therapist that used dialetors and other techniques that helped me so much with pain during sex, my over bathroom use and overall pain in general.

Sometimes even the simple things, like having a hot bath before hand. And taking pain meds before are also super helpful.
You will probably have to experiment with positions to find the few you are both going to enjoy.
Also lube can definitely be your best friend.
I also make sure i put my heating pad on after to help stop muscles cramping up.
I would also suggest your partner letting you orgasam before actually having sex with you. Think helps relax you, and sex is usually less painful for me then. x x 🎗️💛

Has your endo been treated? Surgically? Are you having other symptoms? I would suggest to start taking serrapeptase for adhesions, try lubricants, try different sexual positions, try vaginal dilators before attempting penetration but if simple foreplay is causing you issues it may be time to talk to your Dr. You might need pelvic floor PT or different treatment... good luck and God bless!

I tend to ask for it not to go that deep it seems to help. Enjoying each other is all you can ask for. Also try a heating pad on pelvis before hand sometime it works for me. Gl
