I’m scheduled for a complete hysterectomy later next month but the pain is ridiculous. Some days nothing and then last week I was in bed for three days crying. Hospitals telling me heat and ibuprofen and giving me muscle relaxers isn’t helping at all. I have three kids and a full time job, I don’t have time to stay in bed crying or sit in an er creating more bills. Does regular exercise help or could lack of rest have me overdoing it? Just my opinion but....exercise makes me so much worse. I don’t care if it seems “unhealthy” and I do go for walks (and my job is mostly on my feet). But I know that when overdo it on the physical activity, my pain gets infinitely worse.
Please know a hysterectomy is NOT a cure for endometriosis. EXCISION is the gold standard of treatment. I get very tired of physicians and non-physicians saying it is a cure.
Endometriosis is NOT a disease of the uterus. That is called adenomyosis. The definition of endometriosis is: ENDOMETRIUM-LIKE TISSUE THAT IMPLANTS ITSELF IN THE PELVIS AND ABDOMEN.
If ibuprofen isn't helping with the pain could you try mefenamic acid which is stronger but works on inflamation? No restriction on driving. Just a thought, it helped me tremendously.
Have you considered seeing Dr. Martin Robbins? He is an endometriosis excision specialist in Maine.
A hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis. Excision must be performed.
