I am scheduled for a hysterectomy next week, and my surgeon says she will decide when doing the surgery whether the cervix should be removed or not. I told her I wanted my cervix removed, and she responded that I could state my preference, but it is her decision. She said she would also decide whether my tubes would be removed or not during surgery based on whether they are close to my ovaries. @A MyEndometriosisTeam Member Penny I am so sorry that you had to go through that horrible experience. I had a total hysterectomy almost 3 months ago. It's an emotional and scary experience, I cried before my surgery and depressed the first 4 weeks after my surgery. I feel a lot better now and I have no more pain.
You should be able to choose, now personally I had to have a full Hysterectomy which sucks going through menopause at 30 but my entire uterus was a ball of endo so there was no other option. If your body is fight against itself then it's not if you get another cleaning out, it's when so most endo can be taken care of with a full Hysterectomy that's probably why
My surgeon and I made that decision together. I am so grateful and thankful for my surgeon.
In the UK I couldn't choose they told me...I didn't know what was going on... they did my total hysterectomy and both ovaries removed (bso) under an epidural!! It was horrendous...I still have nightmares 18 years later oh and we are childless not NY choice
I had my complete hysterectomy and both ovaries removed at 32 years of age...I had suffered 10 agonising years before being diagnosed by laparoscopy with Endo..they told me it was such "a mess" with 1 blocked tube that they had to do it...they did 3 weeks later!! No choice just told in the UK
