My laparoscopy was a little over a week ago and the incisions were covered with glue. Unfortunately this glue started coming off 3 days ago and the edges kept getting caught on my clothing so I've been trimming off the edges to stop it from catching my clothing and tearing off. Today I cut a bit off and I saw the edge of one of my incisions. Just a small part of it but it very obviously is not healed yet. The bottom layer of skin is healed but worryingly thin but the top of the wound is still… read more
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member you cannot see those layers, but they are there. When closing the incision the surgeon has to do a few layers of stitches to keep all the fascia closed and prevent infection/massive scarring. So as long as you can’t see those stitches then you’re good! Sorry I didn’t make that clear earlier!
I closed it with liquid bandaid and it seems fine
Thx guys its definitely not a big deal I just kinda freaked out when I saw the skin open
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member there's not a lower layer of stitches. It's just a thin piece of skin that has healed beneath the open skin
I would just use a bandaid to cover it, it’s most likely not going to be a big deal unless it’s big, but sounds like it’s really small, so the worst thing that would happen is the scar might be a tiny bit thicker in that spot. I don’t think you’re in danger of the lower layer of stitches not holding.
