Amount of time I should take off from work?
How much pain I should expect to be in?
How long does it take to feel back to normal and heal?
When can I exercise again?
When can I resume sex?

It does depend. I was told I could go back to work in 2 weeks but I’m an occupational therapist and do a lot of lifting and modified what I did. I went back in 3 weeks. I was in a lot of pain but for me it took about 4 weeks to feel somewhat normal. They recommend pelvic rest for 2 weeks. I was on Percocet and antibiotics, my pain was pretty bad.

I think it can really depend! I'm a teacher and took about 10 days off both times. Towards the end of my recovery it was more about feeling wiped out, then being in actual pain. For my first surgery, I was in more pain but it wasn't horrible. I had a lot of shoulder pain from the gas they pump you with. Take gas-x. My second surgery (with a true specialist) I only took ibuprofen after the first day! I would say you will probably be feeling pretty good after 2 weeks. Maybe 3 or 4 weeks till you feel completely normal. Hope everything goes well!

Hi Lindsey,
Hope my responses help.
Amount of time I should take off from work? It took couple weeks to recover. I was teaching and had the summer off so recovery was at my pace.
How much pain I should expect to be in? I was on pain meds when I left hospital and slept a lot at home. I managed pain with norco but eventually phased out of norco and switched to ibu.
How long does it take to feel back to normal and heal? A couple months. I took it easy and didn't push myself. My surgery was June 15 and we moved into new place in Aug 15. I still didn't lift heavy boxes.
When can I exercise again? I took it easy and listened to my body. I eased into it with short walks on the greenbelt. You will be surprised at how helfpul resting will get you back to normal. boring to rest but it helps when body is healing.
When can I resume sex? You will be surprised how you will bounce back. My abdomen was sore/tender. We started trying to conceive a couple months after.

keep in mind think of how far you've come and endured. It's scary but you will get through it . :)
