A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cardiff, UK

Not the first time I've noticed this so was just wondering if anyone else had experienced it or if it's completely unrelated? The past few days I've been tasting iron/blood at the back of my mouth (slightly smelling it too).
I'm wondering if there's anyway it could be related to being on my period as it's not the first time I've noticed the two together?

Increase your consumption of iron rich foods. I think you'll find it'll go away quickly.

I do that as part of my anemia. Have you had your iron levels checked?

I'll try to, I'll see what I'm able to get hold of - thanks! Xx

Ah.. somewhere in the back of my mind that was what i was wondering about but i couldn't see how it could be related..
The reason anemia was in the back of my mind is that i am currently on day 11 of bleeding and it's not stopping. I used to be fairly reliable that bleeding would only last 5-6 days but since going on bc (just short of 6 months into trying it now) I've been bleeding for longer.
An additional problem is that due to covid 19 we've had to live off of some pretty rubbish food nutrition wise as it's all we can get. I'm vegetarian, but normally have good iron levels because I'm careful to pay attention but longer bleeding plus rubbish food might just have made for a bad combination :/ i have been feeling really tired the last few days too..
Thank you for bringing that up as it's really making me think more seriously about that possibility now xx
