Scars take a very long time to totally heal. In the grand scheme of things, 1.5 weeks is nothing. Your scar will most likely get better over time. But it could take up to two years. Usually scars start off more red at first and then become less noticeable as they get to be closer to your skin color. I personally wouldn't worry about how it looks but more about if it is making you uncomfortable. I have had a lot of surgeries and I feel like I know what you mean about having a divot. I have a decent amount of indents in my skin from scars. Part of my liver surgery scar is indented and pulling towards the back of my body and it isn't pretty but it is uncomfortable. That's the only reason I care. Also the vertical part of my scar has wrinkles in it because I couldn't stand up straight after surgery and was usually sitting or laying down so that's how it healed. So try to have good posture to avoid that. Also when I was going to PT after surgery, they did scar messages there to break up the internal scar tissue which makes it more comfortable, but that's something you can do yourself. You could get plastic surgery but it has plenty of time to get less noticeable. And even if it always is noticeable, rock those scars girl! You can also find scar creams to put on it. Just run it by your doctor first because putting lotion or anything on it too early can cause it to get infected and may make it worse.

I used to be so self conscious about my scars and now I don't care. People rarely see them since they are under my shirt and even if they do see it I don't care. Also something I pointed out to a friend at the hospital when they asked if I would ever get my scar removed is that scars can help you. If I ever can't speak for myself, my scars speak for me. They can give doctors an idea about where to look if I have some sort of medical emergency and they don't know what it going on. Those scars can help guide them in the right direction. I understand your concern, but over time it just becomes part of who you are. I can't even remember what my abdomen looked like before it was covered in scars, it's my norm now and it doesn't bother me. A few months ago I was at the beach and people were starring at me and my best friend said to me "who the hell cares? You'll never see those people again and even if they did, they probably aren't judging you" and it's true. People stare because they wonder how you got the scar. Usually it's not because they're judging you, it's curiosity. And maybe that curiosity can help raise awareness about the disease.

I had a laparospocy in June and my scars are pretty close to gone, but they healed well and didnt get infected or anything. Right now they're just little pink lines. My abdominal stitches (in my bellybutton) disappeared immediately.
