I have worked extensively with a Naturopath. One of the most worthwhile things we did was a comprehensive stool analysis as a small study found 100% of people with endo had a leaky gut…. a huge percent will also have candida issues. It told us exactly what was in and not in my gut and she was able to direct my supplements / remedies better with that knowledge. I have also found the low fodmap diet to be very helpful and “heal endo” by Katie edmonds … her website and book.. to be great. I follow her diet for the most part. Deep visceral mobilisation from an osteopath totally resolved my bladder issues (frequency, difficulty emptying). I have also done a lot of acupuncture, but am not sure how much it helped. Overall, I think these things gave me maybe an 80% improvement in symptoms. I do still get severe period pain, but I have been going through fertility treatments - on and off numerous crazy hormones, so I havent been able to focus on trying to help the pain specifically. I use my heating pad, rub peppermint essential oil/lotion on my belly and lay there just waiting for it to be over. Hope some of these things will be useful for you!
I currently am saving up for an initial visit to a naturopathic doctor who has also seen women for endo. From what I have researched, there are many supplements that help (a lot which treat inflammation). This past year I have found an anti inflammatory diet to be the best for my joints and gut although I am not perfect at it. I was also referred to a rheumatologist for ongoing inflammation throughout my body (stress induced) and she concluded it was / likely to be fibromyalgia (another inflammatory disease). My flare ups occur when I eat crappy and heavily processed foods, fried foods and dairy. I also did a lot of research on greens for bloating (I have terrible endo belly!) and I have been taking Whole Earth & Sea fermented greens as recommended by dr. Gonzales as one of the best greens (this one is top rated, transparent company and low in heavy metals!) I get it off Amazon. I was skeptical but it has helped a lot and I have a lot more energy and focus so I’ve noticed it eliminating some brain fog.
I hope to find more supplements to help me and my hormones, I don’t want to start taking anything without a doctors advice though so that’s why I’m so adamant about saving up for this doctor (I also may test my hormones). Im not a fan of western medicine and especially want to steer clear from opioids. I think understanding our bodies and pin pointing triggers can help a lot but endo is very tricky because we actively have something growing that’s causing us pain surrounding our periods.
I would give the greens a shot, try a golden milk latte for inflammation, start taking vitamin D and try to implement the anti inflammatory diet if you haven’t yet!
THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️
thank you 💗
@A MyEndometriosisTeam Member I tried many birth controls. The only positive was being able to skip a period at all, but the side effects are just awful. I’m so sorry you’re feeling depressed. I also tried an IUD and it didn’t work well for me. I would stop the birth control because your mental health isn’t worth it, there are ways to manage the pain even though it may not entirely go away. I love my ovira and heating pad.
