Hi everyone, I plan to come off my contraceptive pill this summer as my partner and I are about to move into our together and i turn 34 next month. I first found out I had endo 8 years ago and have had 2 operations since (the last one being last year) I have always struggled with my weight and I’m just so concerned with a combination of being overweight, having endo and my age that getting pregnant is just not going to happen for me. I am massively concerned about how my endo is going to flare… read more
The podcast “mastering your fertility” is incredibly informative also.. “it starts with the egg” is a helpful book regarding egg quality (usually poorer with endo)… basically it’s ideal to optimise your body as much as possible so hopefully it doesn’t take long for you! A lot of people will start acupuncture too. I would get an app ljke Kindara or similar to track your cycles, and use ovulation predictor kits so you can time things right. I did none of this as I didn’t know i had endo and was trying to take a very relaxed approach. And then once you start, if you don’t get pregnant in 6 months then go to a fertility specialist right away to get some basic tests done since you know there are some factors against you. Hopefully you will have an early success story!!
I have been TTC for 2.5 years, since just before my 34th bday…starting cycle 3 of IVF this week. It is so hard because every month I am not pregnant, the endo is progressing… it’s a huge mental battle of having to go through torture to try to get pregnant, but also feeling it get further away as the endo gets worse being uncontrolled each month. A few things that may be helpful to start right away, even before you are off the pill and while you transition off of it: 1) Mercier therapy or deep visceral mobilization with an Osteopath (or similar practitioner) to improve blood flow to the pelvis, help reduce adhesions and improve organ function; 2) seeing a holistic/functional MD or Naturopath to get on the most appropriate high quality supplements (endo gals are often deficient in iron and other important things) and get some baseline tests of thyroid, vitamin D etc to know if there are other issues to address; 3) “Real Food for Pregnancy” and “Heal Endo” books were very helpful to improve my gut issues and reduce inflammation/symptoms
When I stop any form of birth control! Whether, it was Lupron , Depo Provera, different kind of pills to start my cycles back. To start getting pregnant. I couldn’t do it natural since, I only had one ovary! Do to losing my first one when it became severely clubbed and adhered to my pelvic wall and other organs! I was about 24 when I started this process of IVF, which I did 3 times without success! I had Stage IV Endometriosis I hurt 365 24/7 days a week! Every fertility appointment lead me to leaving in tears and devastated! Wishing you the best. My age 28, I had a emergency hysterectomy and colon resection. Due to complications.
I’m so sorry to hear IVF was unsuccessful for you. It’s really helpful to hear from someone who knows what I’m going through. Thank you for your kind words.
I’m so sorry you are dealing with some much as possible! Being overweight alone doesn’t make it impossible to get pregnant! I know many who were over 250+! I know how scary it is to come off the pill! I had been on Depo,Lupron and many other things to stop my periods at 18. I came off when I was 24, with only one ovary! My only option was IVF x3! It failed each time. So, I truly understand the emotions that go into play with trying to get pregnant! Alone, the side effects of being off the bc! For me the pain was debilitating. But I kept reminding myself of my goal! Was having a baby! I wish the BEST of luck! But please reach out to your drs, when you start having issues! Praying for your miracle baby!!!
