Im having my first excision soon and im not sure at all of what I should pack? Any ideas?
If you are traveling for surgery, highly recommend bringing an ice pack in addition to your hot pad. I used the hotpad on my back and had an ice pack on my tummy, and it gave me some relief after i stopped the opioids. Also, miralax or your preferred stool softener. Have bland, soft/liquid foods prepped and ready for you. They always say you can resume your normal diet immediately, but if you have any form of IBS or tummy troubles, stick with foods you would eat if you had the flu for same day post op and a couple days after. Get your body to point where you are gaving good bowel movements before resuming your normal diet. I made sure I had club crackers for meds in the middle of the night - don't take your pain meds on an empty stomach ❤️ pillow for car rides post surgery to put between you and your seatbelt. I've also seen people recommend taking a soft blanket and a stuffed animal with you for possible in hospital stay or recovery in a hotel and i really love that suggestion. I also had someone else in charge of giving me pain meds because i am notoriously bad at remembering when or if i have taken medication.
If u are getting the laparoscopy surgery, I needed nothing but clothes. I dont know exactly what you are having done. But that was supposed to be and in and out one day surgery but I had an infection so they kept me overnight on antibiotics.
