Sorry you are going through this. Yes, I have endo on my bowels and rectum. It was initially discovered during diagnostic laparoscopy. Over the past few years and as of recently, I had MRI and CT completed. Had oral contrast and contrast inserted into rectum for the imaging test and it showed I have endo on my bowels and in the rectum. Surgery of the bowels is complex, as the dr has to be very careful not to perforate the bowels. My gyn dr told me for my surgery that in addition to him (gyn), I would need to have a general surgeon (who specializes in bowel and rectum surgeries) or colorectal surgeon present for surgery, as they specialize in surgeries of the bowel/rectum. He also said I may need to have colon resection, depending on how bad the endo is affecting my bowels and that I may need ostomy bag for a few weeks until I’m healed. The surgery will be done laparoscopically.

Try not to delay treatment/surgery. Unfortunately in my case, I was diagnosed late and the endo spread into my rectum. Several organs are fused together.

I know you may be nervous, but we are endo warriors! Advocate, advocate, advocate and go to a dr that specializes in endo treatment and excision surgery. Wishing you the best.

Do not be afraid of laparoscopy, it is a simple procedure, and we must be brave in order to get rid of this disease

I’m trying to get the laparoscopy unfortunately with my insurance I have to wait now they pushed it back to October 19th just for a consultation. I can feel so much pressure and pain in my bottom rectum area, ovaries, and lower back, and now it’s almost constant. Also It’s so hard to find a good doctor 😖

I agree with Dana. It is painful, but the best thing you can do is get up and get your blood circulating. I wanted to lay in bed all week, but my mom told me to take a shower and get my blood moving so I could heal faster. It really helped. Obviously you can't do anything too strenuous for a while, but this is definitely one of the easier healing procedures. Believe me, I've had many and this one wasn't too bad.

Laparoscopy will only confirm your diagnosis. They will just go in and see what stage you're in. The procedure is fast and you get to go home as soon as you wake up from it.
