Find a GYN who is willing to do ultrasounds every month or two, to monitor the size of them. If you have large cysts, or a lot of cysts that rupture in the presence of endo, it can be difficult for the body to fight any complications like infection. One women in Brooklyn recently died of sepsis in an extended hospital stay after her cyst burst. If cysts are getting too big they need to be surgically removed.

Hi Gretchen! My heart breaks for you. I've had episodes with excruciating pain lasting 1-2 hours (questioing whether i should go to the ER the 1st time it happened) and then a flare-up that follows with pain for 3days-3months. I didn't know what they were, but a few months back sought medical care again and discovered bilateral endometriomas on ultrasound. I just had exicision surgery 3 weeks ago to remove all my endo and endometriomas, and my doctor shared that those episodes were most likely my endometriomas leaking. If you do have endometriomas, I can just share that from my research and talking with my endo exicision specialist surgeon that surgery is the best option to protect your reproductive organs and dealing with the pain. From my experience being in west river SD, I haven't had providers very knowledgeable of endo. I went out of state for surgery. Keep advocating for yourself, researching, and asking questions.
