Has going vegetarian helped reduce your endometriosis-related constipation pain?
That's wonderful that your constipation pain has improved! Many people with endometriosis find that dietary changes can significantly help with bowel symptoms, especially when endo affects the bowel and rectum like yours does.
By cutting out meat, you've likely increased your fiber intake through more vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. This can help prevent constipation and reduce the painful bowel symptoms that often come with endometriosis affecting the bowel.
Additionally, meat (especially red and processed meat) can worsen inflammation and cramping in endometriosis. Removing it from your diet may be reducing inflammation in your pelvic area, which could explain why you're feeling better.
Here's what dietary changes have helped other MyEndometriosisTeam members:
- Following anti-inflammatory or Mediterranean diets
- Eliminating gluten, dairy, and soy
- Cutting out added sugars
- Avoiding processed foods, caffeine, and alcohol
- Following a low-FODMAP diet
- Keeping a food journal to identify triggers
As for missing burgers - you might try plant-based burger alternatives! Many members have found success with veggie burgers or other meat substitutes that let them enjoy familiar foods while keeping their symptoms under control.
