I’ve been having a lot of bloating and abdominal swelling the last few weeks it was constant. Yesterday I felt like it was finally getting back to normal. Wore jeans out this morning and after standing for about 20 min it hurt so bad I had to sit down. They fit when I put them on but after standing I started swelling again. I’ve noticed that standing seems to be a trigger for it getting worse or more painful but I can’t avoid standing all the time. This has been the worst/longest period of… read more

What you're experiencing sounds really exhausting, and you're definitely not alone in this. Endo belly — the intense bloating and abdominal swelling that comes with endometriosis — affects nearly 96% of people living with the condition. It can last hours or even months, and many MyEndometriosisTeam members describe looking visibly pregnant from it.

The fact that it's been weeks rather than your usual few days around your period is worth paying attention to. When bloating is persistent, painful, or lasting more than a few days, it's a good idea to check in with your doctor — especially since prolonged bloating can sometimes signal that something else needs attention. In the meantime, here are some things MyEndometriosisTeam members have found helpful for managing endo belly:

- Dietary changes — cutting out sugar, gluten, dairy, and red meat has helped many members reduce bloating significantly
- Avoiding carbonated and caffeinated drinks — these can trigger rapid bloating for some people
- Peppermint or ginger tea — can help ease digestive discomfort
- Increasing fiber intake — helps prevent constipation, which can worsen bloating
- Loose, comfortable clothing — on bad days, ditching the jeans entirely (your body will thank you!)

These won't fix the underlying issue, but they may help take the edge off while you work with your doctor on a longer-term plan.
