Hi everyone! I’m having excision surgery soon for endometriosis and wanted to see what you all recommend for post-op recovery. I’ve had two ablations before, but this will be my first excision, so I’m not sure what to expect.

Any tips, must-haves, or things that helped you recover more comfortably? I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thank you 💛

If its removed next to bowel like mine was, Be prepared for very painful bowel movements for over a week afterwards.

Hi! I just had excision surgery a couple weeks ago. My absolute necessities were a heating pad for my back and shoulders to manage the gas pains, as well as ginger ale! I got super nauseous a couple days after surgery and was struggling to eat. Bland foods and ginger ale really helped me. Other than that, allow ample time to rest! My body is still not 100% ready to go back to normal activities yet and that’s ok! Take cues from your body and rest up! Sending so much love and strength. You’ve got this!🫂💛

Praying it goes well.
If you are prone to nausea, ask for the anti nausea patch that they can put behind your ear before you even wake up from surgery. It gave me dry mouth but helped a lot the first day.
Have lots of pillows on the bed or couch to be able to arrange to support you.
Definitely have someone who can drive you home and help out the first couple of days. Don’t try to sit up on your own, or at least roll to the side and push up with your arms so you don’t strain your stomach. Have food ready and snacks so you won’t have to be on your feet.
Expect exhaustion and take it easy.
As you regain strength and begin to walk, a pregnancy belly support band can help. I felt like gravity was pulling down on my stomach and I had to hold it while walking - so the belly band helps with that.
