Members shared mixed experiences with Lupron after surgery, with some finding relief from pain and symptoms while others faced challenges like severe hot flashes, joint pain, and prolonged cycle disruption. Several members emphasized the importance of taking add-back therapy alongside Lupron to minimize side effects, noting that experiences varied widely from person to person and ranged from feeling like magic to being unbearable. A recurring theme was encouragement to research thoroughly, consult specialized excision surgeons, and recognize that trying Lupron is a personal decision with unpredictable outcomes that may work beautifully for some while causing lasting issues for others.

I started Lupron not long after surgery because surgery barely eased my pain. I actually had a positive experience with lupron. The side effects were soooo minimal with the add back therapy . I just noticed that it wore off after 6 months and pain continued again so I went off of it. But try it if you're willing !! The horror stories are most heard but everyone has a different experience.

My surgeon prescribed Lupron 3-6 months prior to a hysterectomy. Lupron was like magic for me. I read the reviews online of people hating it. Before Lupron I had tried several other hormone therapies different birth control pills or shots to attempt to control the endo pain and symptoms.... these methods left me with more pain, extreme constipation, and extreme mood swings. My last straw was a doctor who convinced me to get the IUD despite my hesitations... the insertion was horrific, I was in crazy pain, and tears yelling at the doctor to take it out. Modern torture device... (though, I know some people who like it...they do not have endo).

Anyhow, after the IUD experience I had that doctor refer me for a hysterectomy, at 43 yrs... I was done being a guinea pig. The surgeon put me on Lupron, to reduce the endometriosis before the surgery for a quality surgery and better post op healing. I feel this was effective because by day 3 I was walking down the block. Previously, I had an ovary removed due to a mass and endometriosis removed.

With the Lupron, I had one bad period after 2 weeks and then one light break through period and minor cramping at 2months in, over the 5 months I was on it before the surgery. The doctor warned me about hot flashes, anxiety, depression, night sweats.... I was already experiencing all of these... and with the Lupron... they actually went away. Magic!

The pathology of the hysterectomy showed that I had another cyst on my left ovary, polyps on my cervix, fibroids, and drumroll..... another condition on top of endometriosis.... a sister of endo called, Adenomyosis, which can also cause bad pain and bleeding, but can only be diagnosed by removing the uterus and dissecting it. My surgeon says, usually, when patients are at the point where they asked to have their uterus removed.... the patient is right... something is going on. It took a revolving door of doctors and a male doctor to get this.

I am currently on week 4 after my hysterectomy and I already feel relief. At 14 years I was on the floor in pain vomiting during my periods, after living a lifetime of being gaslighted by doctors and only being diagnosed with Endo 3 years ago due to a large cyst and mass.... I look forward to having a quality of life before retirement age. : )

Tried Lupron when I was a Freshman in College and it started to seem like it was helping and slowly the side effects made me get off it. I was having terrible hot flashes and some random breakthrough bleeding and in college hot flashes and random bad periods don't mix so it had to go. But again everyone is different and it works really well for some and not for others. There's no harm in trying and if it doesn't work you can try something different, who knows it could really help you!?

Lupron is a cancer drug for men with testicular canacer. Many of the side affects have not even been disclosed by the company. Those that are known came from patient reports to the FDA. Among them are bone loss, loss of ovarian function, memory loss, joint and bone pain. All of these can be and are for many, permanent. Of course if you have trouble with wright gain, mood swings, and hot flashes, they will offer you add back therapy which makes matters worse increasing your risk of cancer. Join the Nancy's Nook and seek a specialist if u want real relief. Plz!

I had Lupton and add back pills advert my surgery. My worst side effect was hot flashes at night. I would have to change my clothes and being a couple times a night from sweating so much. I also had a lot of joint pain. Not sure if I would be willing to try it again but so fast is been 3 years since my surgery and I'm doing OK so maybe it was worth it.
