Hey ladies
So I am scheduled for my first laparscopy in 7 days. I have my husband and my mom that are going to be there for me which I am extremely greatful for as I am getting rather nervous. I've never had a surgery where I had to be put under which is what I actually fear the most. I'm also nervous of how I'll feel after, my doctor told me to take a week off work but I'm wondering if you ladies needed more or if that sounds about right. Any helpful tips to recover with ease could offer me… read more

Follow your post op instructions to the tee and stay on top of pain meds. It hurt most to navigate stairs or lift things...but walk as soon as you can, slowly and just a bit and don't overdo it! I definitely second 2 weeks of recovery and the fiber.
Keeping your belly happy is going to help keep everything else healing quickly and pain meds are the worst at stopping things up! No solid food for a while because things moving through your bowels can be painful against the healing excised wounds on the other side.
Prior to surgery do the bowel prep...I've done magnesium citrate all 4 surgeries and...again on the no solid foods will help with the discomfort of emptying out...but soft cloths with apple cider vinegar help my booty!
Day of surgery is SURPRISINGLY easy every time! Get an early appt if possible but whenever you go, they'll get you changed and on a gurney and then hook you up to an IV and get you warm with blankets then doc comes and puts something in IV and before you can make a joke about feeling goofy you're waking up in the recovery room almost ready to go home and sleep.
The scary part is psyching yourself out before the IV! The post op pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be and generally will have me pain free and living a normal life for a year or so!

It all depends on how sever you surgery is. I took about a week before I went back to work but was still not able to walk at normal speed. I had endo removed from my bowels, bladder, ovaries and uterus

Hey, i had my most recent surgery on the 19th December . So going on three weeks.
They did quite allot I was in bed for about two weeks. But from past operations I got over them quite fast. I think it may depend on how much they do.
Also don't be scared. I know it is scary. But you will be ok :) going under is like here you are boom it's six hours later hehe. Almost like time travel.
