Hi everyone, I'm new here, literally just got officially diagnosed fours days ago (first laparoscopy). Just wondering, how long does recovery from surgery usually take? It was a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, removal of stage 2 endo, and insertion of mirena coil. Everything I've read says like a few days of discomfort but it's been four days and I'm still in an awful lot of pain. Just wanna know if this is normal, I feel kinda in over my head here. Anyway, if anyone has any advice, I would really… read more
It can take up to 4 weeks to get back to normal actually. Not sure why your doctor told you otherwise.
If you are still in that much pain you should call your doctor, did they discuss what your recovery should look like? I just had a lap done but I wasn't in too much pain afterwards- except for the gas. But as I didn't have a hysterectomy it could be why?
Welcome to the endo club-- I'm so sorry you had to join, but glad you're here with us. I didn't have hysteroscopy or a Mirena put in, but I would say at least 2 weeks based on my own experience. I wouldn't say I was in a lot of pain after, though. If you're not feeling right, can't hurt to check in with your doctor. As far as pain management, my heating pad was really helpful after surgery. I also supplemented my pain meds with Advil with my doctor's ok-- ibuprofen just does it for me. Peppermint tea and walking around helped with the gas pain. Good luck and I hope your recovery goes well!
