Letrozole & Norethindrone
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had two pregnancy loses and pelvic/ back pain that has increased significantly in the past year. Last week I saw a fertility specialist who did an ultrasound and found a cyst on my right ovary, with endometriosis. My doctor put me on 10mg of letrozole and 5mg of Norethindrone daily, for 3 months. He is suggesting this instead of a laproscopy because I am hoping to try and get pregnant after these 3 months are over. I finally got my insurance to approve it and will be starting it today… read more

Hi Kelley! I have been on both of them for a month and a half now and within a week the pain went away. Before it for the past year I've been in pain daily, nauseous, and dizzy all the time, and now I almost never feel any of this. I am on it for 90 days, I am also worried that once I stop it the pain will come back right away as well. My doctor said it's supposed to help it for a year after, so we shall see. I hope that your doctor can prescribe you with norethindrone, maybe that combination will help you!! Let me
Know how it goes!

Wonderful news! I wish my pain will go away. I'm still having pains & it's been over a month since I've been back on the Letrozole. My specialist dr hasn't done anything about the norethindrone yet. I've left messages w/them & he has been out of the office for family problems. So, a dr that is helping him said that they needed to see me, but I can't travel back & forth 8 hours total to go see them just for me wanting to be put on the norethindrone. I think I'm just going to call my local dr here & see if he'll put me on it.

How are you doing on it now? I'm on Letrozole for a 2nd round. I was on it for 6 months. It didn't start helping my pain until probably half way through the 6 months. It helped for the most part, but I would still have some dull pains here & there. But, as soon as I was off of it, the pain gradually came back w/a vengeance. I'm now seeing a specialist & he suggest that I try it again for another 6 months, so here I go again. It hasn't been a month yet, but it's not really helping yet. I did have the menopause symptoms the first time on it, but they weren't too bad, but so far on it this time it has been so bad. Hot flashes, mood swings, & more. I messaged my dr today to see if he can prescribe me the Norethindone to see if it will help w/my symptoms, so we'll see. Are you taking the Norethindone along w/the Letrozole & is it helping you?
