I have had pelvic pain since I was 19. It wasn't until I went to the ER a couple years ago that I got any kind of answer. I was told that I had a ruptured cyst. Every time I had the same pain I assumed that it was caused by a ruptured cyst. I am now 35 and the pain has increased and comes a lot more frequently. Pain starts in my pelvis and goes down my leg. My back kills me and I've noticed anytime I have the pain any kind of pressure down there hurts me even more. I get horrible headaches and I get dizzy. I have told three doctors this but not one of them will listen. My last one says that ruptured cysts is just what the ER says about pelvic pain that they can't find a reason for. He also says that endometriosis is just a cover all for unknown pelvic pain and it's rare that anyone has it when they are in pain. I've been told to take aleve and progesterone. Neither does anything for me. I have been in the ER four times in the last couple months and the pain has only increased each time. ER Doctor recommended a laproscopy but my doctor says he doubts I have this and its not necessary to the laproscopy. I just made an appointment with a Female doctor an hour away from me just to see if maybe she will listen or care. I feel like my doctor thinks I'm making my pain up. I can't hold my youngest for more than five minutes without being in pain. I am depressed cause no one listens and I'm constantly in pain and exhausted from trying to get someone to help me. I had a Leep procedure done five years ago for pre-cancerous cells on my cervix. I recently found out many women in my family suffered from this till they got a <a href="/treatments/hysterectomy">hysterectomy</a>. I was also told not to worry cause its not hereditary. I just want someone to listen and not make me feel like I'm crazy.

I'm so sorry this is happening! I know how incredibly frustrating it is when doctors don't listen or take your pain seriously. It's not about the gender, the two very best doctors that have treated my endo have both been male. Doctors are people too - and a kind, empathic person makes a kind, empathic doctor. That's what you deserve!! Depending on what state you're in, there are endo specialists everywhere - they can help take care of you so you can stay out of the ER, have your pain taken seriously, and have a good life with your kids. Keep your head up, you're not alone!
