16 Ur Old Daughter
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

A few questions... my daughter is 16 and has had a laser lapraoscopy which helped a little. She tried the IUD which was bad. She’s on the pill now with no period breaks. She misses high school one or two days a week. Has anyone taken Orilissa? We are in the Twin cities and the OB/GYN we tried to get into is only taking surgical candidiates and I don’t think she is one. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I am very hesitant about orilisa. Osteoporosis is something most women have to endure without it being a side effect. If you do decide to go that route, I’d suggest calcium and vitamin D together to help with healthy bones. It seems crazy but especially if you have smaller bones, you are at risk after 50 for osteoporosis. Definitely do your research and get a second, third or even fifth opinion if need be. I’m not a lot of help because I too am new to research and diagnosis but I just started a medical study linking endo to osteoporosis at a faster rate than normal. And then to take something else that has that as a side effect just worries me so much. Unfortunately it runs in my family to break a hip after 60 so I may be too worrisome of the fact. I truly hope you find a better way to alleviate the pain and symptoms I most certainly know too well about. Breaks my heart for her!

What?!? That is all he can do?? Please take your daughter to see Dr. Eric Heegaard in Edina. He is an endometriosis EXCISION specialist. And a vetted one. He is supposed to be excellent.

You are so very welcome. And having Dr. Heegaard so close to you is a blessing. He is a Nook surgeon and is GOOD! I have heard nothing except positive things about him.

I am so sorry your daughter is in such horrible pain. You are a fantastic mom who hears her daughter's anguish and pain. That was something mom mother always ignored. She was unable to deal with it.

Omg thank you SO MUCH!!! This is incredible info. After her ablation he said “I’ve done all I can.” He looked at her and said “time to toughen up. This is what life has dealt you and you gotta deal.” He said that to my 16 year old daughter! Depression and anxiety kicked in after that. I refuse to give up. There has to be something more at this young age.
