When To Get A Second Opinion/new OBGYN?
A MyEndometriosisTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been struggling with endometriosis and an ovarian cyst for the last nine months (officially diagnosed, symptoms for 3 years previous), and I've been in pelvic floor PT for the last 8 weeks. My OBGYN has insisted my cyst will shrink naturally and keeps prescribing me different kinds of birth control and nothing has had any affect on my symptoms (most aren't even able to stop my periods). I'm still in high levels of pain on a daily basis and kind of feel like I'm losing my mind because… read more

I will advise seeking second opinion- this time an obgyn who is an endometriosis specialist. You cab reach out to your insurance company to get a list of them who are in network. Sending you love and hugs. Hopefully you find someone who puts your health first.

Girl your story sound so similar to mine. I’ve had a cyst for over a year that they just assume will go away but I’m having daily cramping. I’m currently on the mini pill and I have a hunch that I ovulated this past month which has exacerbated the pain related to the cyst. I also feel my doctors keep writing me off. I’m going to keep trying new ones until someone listens. I’d definitely try for a second opinion!

It probably wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. My first doctor was a woman who blew me off when I told her about my pain in my side. Eventually I ended up in the ER one night in pain with irregular bleeding and a fever. I had 3 cysts in my left ovary and one of them ruptured inside. It was awful. After that I started seeing a new doctor (a man this time) and now he's treating me for endometriosis. I thought a female doctor could relate better but I guess not.

Thank you for the solidarity! I feel like the pain has just been increasing these past 2-3 weeks and i just want someone to try to do something about it instead of telling me to let it pass. Hang in there ❤️
