Hello Endo Friends!

Wanted to share an update and ask some questions about my post-laparoscopy (diagnosis and excision) experience so far. My surgery was about 3 weeks ago and I am having trouble finding matching stories when comparing my experience to others regarding recovery.

Doctors told me I would be almost back to normal after 2 weeks... this has not been the case. I have healed up a lot and have made enormous improvement over all, which is great! But I am not back to normal and do not… read more

It could take up to 6 months for you to feel normal, maybe even longer. I know some women that its taken 10 months. So dont feel down about your progress, everybody is different and it takes time to heal! I wasnt up and out of bed for 2 weeks! And slowly not really noticeably was better every day but it was noticeable from week to week.

Movement is tough too… sometimes a long walk would make me feel super sore. Take it easier than you think you need to and when in doubt, rest.

Not sure about the stomach, mine looks a little different too - more bloated but i also have a small hernia that i didnt have before so its a little off.

Just take it one day at a time! You will get there!

I am 3 weeks post-op from laprascopy excision, bilateral salpingectomy, and D&C. I was told 2 weeks, and when I went in for my post-op she said I was healing great, but my body was going to take time to heal on its own. I got my period 3 days after surgery and it knocked me off my feet pretty badly. I feel like that has prolonged my healing quite a bit. I started a medication on week 2 thats supposed to lower my hormone levels to allow the endo to really heal post surgery. She said it could take up to 3 months for my body to really heal 100% and the meds will allow it to whole keeping my endo at bay. I will experience a stint of premenopause while on it, but ill take it if it lets me heal. Like you, i have good days and bad depending on how much i have done that day. If i do a bit of walking, i will cramp badly at the end of it. Heating pads are my best friend. My incisions i still feel pressure on, and bending is not comfortable still. We will get there at our own speed i guess, stay strong!

Thanks for sharing, I’m about a month away from my lap and have also read and been told that many people are fully recovered in 2 weeks… meanwhile a friend had a much less major surgery and was off from a much less active job for 7 weeks! So I’ve been confused on what to expect… Wishing you a good recovery, hopefully the worst has passed.
