What questions did you ask your surgeon before Laparoscopy?

I do have a fairly lengthy list, but want to make sure I'm asking everything I might possibly need or want to know at my pre-op.

Thanks in advance!

Treatment Options

Treatment Options

Hi,
I am going in for my post-op appointment in a few days, and I know my doctor wants to change my treatment. I have endo all over my uterus, colon, and rectum, and they were not able to remove any during my last surgery. I’ve been on several oral contraceptives, but all have made me feel even worse than I do with nothing. The last one made me gain 30 pounds and bleed nonstop the entire time I was taking it. I have read that IUDs can be an option, but I don’t have any experience with that. I… read more

How frequently do you have pain?

How frequently do you have pain?

I know typically endometriosis is described as a period problem but I have pain almost 24/7. Any amount of exercise or activity causes pain for me even just standing or sitting too long ends with me curled up in a ball. Does anyone else have pain this much and do you guys struggle with walking as well?

Laparoscopy diagnosis

Laparoscopy diagnosis

Hi,

I recently had my laparoscopy, after speaking to the doctor he said I had it on my left ovary, pelvic wall he also mentioned it was on my bladder and abdominal wall. Now I’ve read up about the abdominal wall which apparently is rear and you get it if you have a c section which I haven’t had I don’t have any children. Just wondering if anyone else has also been told this? He also mentioned going back in 4 months not too sure if that would be for more surgery I was still a bit out of it… read more

Sex Life and Physical Relationship

Sex Life and Physical Relationship

I can count on one hand the times that me and my boyfriend have had sex in the last year- sad I know.
I just had excision surgery back in May and of course I'm terrified of getting back on the horse... seemed like an appropriate analogy. We have tried once since my surgery after waiting long enough and it still hurt but at the time I wasn't on any type of birth control so we had to use a condom and my fun parts have never agreed with most types. I'm thinking that was the main… read more

pain during transvaginal ultrasound

pain during transvaginal ultrasound

I recently was diagnosed with suspected endometriosis due to unbearable pain and digestive issues during my period and sharp stabbing pains especially during ovulation. I went today to get a routine pelvic exam and transvaginal ultrasound to see if there is anything else that could be causing this. The pap smear/pelvic exam went fine, but the ultrasound was terrible. The way my ovaries are positioned, she had to push the device quite hard at weird angles to see them. It felt… read more
